âœYou feel like youâre talking to a real personâ â“ Editor Jitesh Pillaai talks about cover star Anushka Sharma

I think the best thing about Anushka Sharma is her frankspeak. Talking to her, you feel like you’re talking to a real person and not to a star who has been coached into saying the correct thing by her PR machinery. She has stopped speaking about him but she did candidly speak to us about Virat Kohli, the man she’s allegedly seeing. How many actors today have the guts to be open about their relationships?

She’s a producer now but isn’t making films just for the money. She’s making films because it gives her the satisfaction to tell a story the way she wants it to be told. NH10 and Phillauri left us satisfied. The posters of her next outing as a  producer, Pari have created quite a stir. She had said in the interview we are carrying in this issue that it’s a love story and that has left us doubly intrigued.

She would be seen with Shah Rukh Khan in two films – Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal and in Aanand L Rai’s as yet untitled film. There is a comfort zone between them that’s so refreshing. She does feel a reverence for him but there is camaraderie too. That’s how it should be between actors. It’s high time they let go of power games and instead concentrate on giving each other space both off and on screen, bettering themselves in the process as actors, as individuals.

She also mentions being an ardent admirer of Imtiaz Ali. She discloses in the interview that she chose to be an actor after watching Jab We Met (2007). She saw the film sitting on a rickity seat in a run down theatre and immediately felt connected with Kareena Kapoor’s character. She was swayed by the fact that it was such a powerful role and felt she wouldn’t mind being part of such a set up. Now, ten years down the line, she’s finally realising her dream with Jab Harry Met Sejal. If that’s not destiny at work than what is? The Universe doesn’t disappoint you if you want it badly enough, I guess.

The promos of this cheekily titled film have been out of this world and like million other Imtiaz Ali fans, I too am hugely looking forward to it. Fingers crossed!
